Marginal Changemakers chat with Young Authors Publishing!

This is the first of our newest series of podcasts here at the Marginal Publishing House. This Marginal Changemakers Series sees our activists speak to those within the Publishing industry all around the world, to help garner diverse ideas, complex thought and vast experience within the sector. We are hoping to use this learning to turn a new page in publishing and show the world that we should prioritise impact over profit, and maybe even find ways we can thrive as both communities and businesses.

Today we are joined by Leah Hernandez, a trailblazer in the inclusive publishing industry. Leah is the CEO and Co-Founder of Young Authors Publishing whose mission is to support diverse communities with dedicated resources to amplify their stories and to create a global community of diverse publishers that are working collectively to redefine the literary landscape through diverse narratives.

Despite the timezones of Leah being based in the United States and us in the UK- we were able to connect with the Young Authors Publishing CEO and Co-Founder to discuss all things inclusivity, best practise and ways that marginalised people can access publishing opportunities- no matter who they are or where they are. Globally, the differences to the struggles we are facing within publishing are not that different at all. However, the revolutionary work of our friends over at Young Authors Publishing is something that those of us in the UK can learn from and aim to replicate in our own, varied practises.
